NOTE: Do not use these general glazing assembly instructions in case of products certified for High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ impact certification). Please consult our website for product-specific glazing assembly instructions.
Use alcohol to clean the entire perimeter of the glass pane at a distance of at least 5 cm from its edges.
NOTE: Make sure that the glass pane has been cleaned and is free of grease, dust or dirt, in order to ensure proper adhesion of the silicone to the glass pane.
The appropriate block plugs (mounting and lateral) for each product range are described in the following table.
Table 1 – Glazing assembly components
[Table]
*Item 18621 must be cut to a width of 1 cm.
Use 2 or 3 mounting block plugs (see figure below) in order to form an angle for mounting the glazing before you assemble the glazing. Place the sill mounting block plugs at a distance of approximately 15 cm from the sides. Make sure that none of the frame’s drainage holes or grooves are clogged. Use silicone to secure the plugs, unless they are self-adhesive.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Assemble the glazing immediately after applying the sealant. Depending on the external conditions, the sealant forms a crust within a few minutes from its application. If a crust is formed, it will not be possible to properly adhere the glass pane to the sealant.
External glazing – Apply sealant on the corners at a length of 10-15 cm, as shown in the following figure. Apply a sufficient quantity of sealant to ensure good adhesion to the glass pane.
In this case, the sealant prevents the easy removal of the glass plane from outside (and therefore the entry to the building).
NOTE: The glass pane must be centered in the opening.
Internal glazing– Apply sealant to the entire perimeter of the frame, as shown in the figure below. Apply a sufficient quantity of sealant to ensure good adhesion to the glass pane.
In this case, the sealant prevents the entry of air and water into the building.
NOTE: The glass pane must be centered in the opening.
Optional sealing for extreme weather conditions – In extreme weather conditions, a sealing joint should be added to the perimeter of the frame (either externally or internally), as shown in the figure below. This joint can only be applied on site.
Extreme weather events or drying shrinkage – For installations exposed to extreme weather events, apply a compatible sealant to the thermal break cavity on sills, T bars and mullions, as shown in the figure below. This only applies to products with thermally insulated frames.
- Place additional block plugs (mounting and lateral) at the sides and the top of the frame, angling the glass pane so that any movement can be prevented, as shown in the figure below.
- Place lateral block plugs in layers (using adhesive material) to minimize or eliminate the gap between the glass pane and the frame. Use silicone to secure the plugs, unless they are self-adhesive.
- Place trims on the top, the sill and the sides of the frame to complete the assembly.
- Place the front footing of the trim in the frame groove to install it.
- Press the trim towards the frame so that it can snap into place.
NOTE:When removing trims that have been cut from the frame, note their exact position. Since each trim is cut manually for a specific position in the frame, it must be placed back in the same position during the process of assembling the glazing.
