The Cambridge Commons student residence was built to accommodate first-year students of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and is located in the heart of the city, on the banks of the Milwaukee River.
One of the specifications set by the University for the architectural design of the residence was to be “green” and aligned with the institution’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives. The developers delivered a model building incorporating sustainable practices such as rainwater collection and utilization, solar energy harvesting, green roofs, and high energy efficiency—an achievement significantly supported by EPAL’s aluminum systems.
To realize this environmentally friendly project with a focus on daily usability and optimal energy performance, the 18000 Ultra K aluminum window and door series was selected. This system achieves a thermal transmittance coefficient (Uw) as low as 0.78 W/m²K and offers top-tier levels of water tightness and air permeability.
Thanks to EPAL’s exceptionally designed aluminum systems, the new students at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee enjoy a building with minimal energy loss—especially valuable during the region’s harsh winters.
