EPAL 18000 Ultra K

High Performance & Unmatched Security

Aluminium Window Profile

The 18000 Ultra K aluminium frame series is one of EPAL’s most modern and versatile creations, thanks to its innovative design and the wide range of typologies it offers.

Key Advantages

One of the series’ most significant advantages is the innovative combination of cast thermal break and polyamide thermal break. This powerful dual thermal barrier enables the system to achieve an exceptionally low thermal transmittance coefficient (Uw), starting from 0.78 W/m²K, depending on the number of glazing layers used. The result is high thermal insulation and continuous energy savings for both heating and cooling of interior spaces.

High Security and Reliability

The frames of the series offer high-precision security thanks to the top-tier German Roto NT hardware system. When closed, the window locks around its perimeter at up to 14 points—depending on the frame dimensions—ensuring optimal burglary protection.

The 18000 Ultra K casement windows are an advanced solution designed to meet high-performance demands across a wide range of applications. They are compatible with insect screens, roller shutters, or traditional shutters.

Why choose the 18000 Ultra K?

  • Dual thermal break with a total width of 30 mm
  • Uw from 0.78 W/m²K
  • Supports up to 4 glass panes
  • Sealing with 2 EPDM gaskets
  • Perimeter locking at up to 14 points
  • Wide variety of typologies
  • Dual-color option (interior-exterior)

Product Description

The new EPAL window series features an innovative design that incorporates a dual thermal break system—a combination of cast thermal break and polyamide thermal break—significantly reducing the thermal transmittance coefficient to as low as Uw = 0.78 W/m²K, depending on the glazing configuration used.

The thermal insulating glazing units used in the EPAL 18000 Ultra K series can be double, triple (with two cavities), or even quadruple (with three cavities). The profiles have a square design and are equipped with the German ROTO NT perimeter locking mechanism by ROTO.

Technical Characteristics

The EPAL 18000 Ultra K window systems feature the following characteristics:

  • Profiles with dual cast thermal breaks: Two cast thermal breaks enclose a central 30 mm PVC thermal barrier within the profile.
  • All frames are tilt-and-turn systems.
  • Crimped (pressed) corners ensure robust construction and stability.
  • Perimeter locking: With a single turn of the handle, windows and balcony doors lock at up to 14 points (depending on the frame dimensions), offering the highest level of security on the market.
  • Equipped with ROTO NT mechanisms by ROTO Frank Germany—an industry leader in window hardware.
  • Available in dual-color (bi-color) finishes, allowing different interior and exterior shades.
  • Two continuous TPE gaskets ensure excellent sealing and weatherproofing.
  • Compatible with roller shutters, traditional shutters, and insect screens.
  • Manufactured using specific materials and components that meet strict high-quality standards.
  • Produced under controlled manufacturing processes to guarantee consistent and superior quality.

Advantages

The EPAL 18000 Ultra K window series ensures:

  • Very high thermal insulation: The EPAL 18000 Ultra K system enables the construction of frames with excellent thermal performance (up to Uw = 0.87 W/m²K), as verified by tests in accordance with DIN EN ISO 10077-1.
  • High levels of sound insulation: Rw (C; Ctr) = 38 (-2; -6) dB weighted sound reduction index (with triple glazing 4 – 15 – 4 – 15 – 4), according to DIN EN ISO 140-3:2005, test number A.540.2011.
  • Excellent water and air tightness, based on tests conducted under the following standards:
    AAMA/WDMA/CSA/101/I.S.2/A440-05
    AAMA/WDMA/CSA/101/I.S.2/A440-08
    DIN EN 1026:2000-09
    DIN EN 1027:2000-09
    DIN EN 12211:2000-12
    DIN EN 12207:2000-06
    DIN EN 12208:2000-06
    DIN EN 12210:2000-06
    DIN 18055:1981-10
  • High mechanical resistance under daily use and excellent operational performance.
  • Top-tier aesthetics, with a wide range of color options and premium-quality powder coating.

Installation of the EPAL 18000 Ultra K frames is carried out by specialized technical personnel on any surface, using certified accessories and insulation materials to ensure perfect fitting.

Glazing

EPAL imports glass panels from the largest glass manufacturing companies in the world.

The 18000 sliding frame systems are equipped with double thermal insulating glazing units. +
The glass used is of the Float type (Float glass). The standard glazing combination consists of 6mm Planistar glass on the exterior, 4mm glass on the interior, with a 15mm air gap between the two panes (6Planistar – 15 – 4). This combination provides a thermal insulation coefficient of Ug = 1.0 W/m²K and excellent sound insulation properties (Rw = 36dB), based on tests conducted according to ISO 140/3-78 – Test Number A6.121.96.
Longer lifespan of the glazing unit. +
The bonding of the double glazing units is initially done using two Butyl PIB cords (special plastic adhesive), which are applied around the aluminum spacer placed between the two glass panes. Butyl PIB has excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations, ranging from -30°C to 80°C, and up to 160°C (for short periods). It also has a very low thermal conductivity coefficient. The aluminum spacer is filled with desiccants, which further extend the lifespan of the glazing unit.
Fogging of the glass over time is prevented. +
In addition to the special Butyl PIB adhesive, a two-component adhesive (sulphur adhesive) is applied externally around the perimeter of the glass. This adhesive is elastic and also has excellent resistance to temperature fluctuations. In this way, the air trapped between the two panes of glass has no contact with atmospheric air, thereby preventing fogging of the glass over time.
Certifications +
EPAL has been certified for the sealing processes of thermal insulating glazing units and gas-filled thermal insulating glazing units in accordance with the DIN EN 1279-2 and DIN EN 1279-3 standards by the German Institute ift Rosenheim.
Triple glazing with special coatings +
In addition to the standard glazing 6Planistar– 15 – 4, which has a thermal insulation coefficient of Ug = 1.0 W/m²K, the E50 series can also accommodate triple glazing with special coatings – soft Low E and hard Low E coatings.
